Facebook Phone Based on Mozilla Firefox OS to Be Released in the Latter Half of 2013

The rumors about the new Facebook Phones have continued for a long time. Just recently, Mozilla Hispano has an interesting post on its blog today: “Facebook Phone OS based on Firefox“. On a rough translation of the blog post to English, it is mainly about the operating system and the official release date of the rumored Facebook phones. The post goes to say that Mozilla and Facebook have reached an agreement to distribute a Facebook Phone in the latter half of 2013 and that the phone is based on Firefox OS. It’s illustrated with a handset decked out in Facebook blue and white with a log in prompt on the screen in Polish and Facebook Inc. stamped on the back.

As specs leaked from Mozilla, this Facebook phone would run on 1GB RAM with 8GB memory storage. This new ZTE OEM smartphone is also indicated to be released in the latter half of 2013. Considering the proclaiming of Facebook CTO Bret Taylor to schedule the official release of the first Facebook phone on February 26th on the Mobile World Congress 2013, Mozilla’s act might only be a prank to people.
