the new iPad
After long waiting, Apple finally officially released the next generation of iPad on the March 7th event in San Francisco on Tuesday, unveiling a quad-core A5X GPU processor, Retina display with 2048x1536 pixels screen resolution, a facetime 3.1MP camera and a rear 5.0MP iPhone 4S iSight camera supporting 1080P video recording, 4G LTE network connectivity, up to 10 hours of endurance compatibility (9 hours under 4G LTE connection), etc. As to the price, the new iPad is going to stay the same price as that of iPad 2, with the Wifi version of the new iPad starting from $499 and WiFi+ 4G version starting from $629, exactly like what I said in my post Apple iPad HD is likely to stay the same price and size as iPad 2, ranging from $499– 829. But one thing that might confuse people is that the new iPad is not officially named out. During the release event, Apple CEO called it “the new iPad”, neither iPad 3, iPad 2S, nor iPad HD.

Different from the speculations and rumors, the new iPad still comes with the Home key and no 3D display support. Siri is also not included in this new iPad. The rumored A6 processor is not on the list of the new iPad either. Just like rumors said, the new iPad adopts quad-core A5X GPU processor and features up to 2048x1536 pixels Retina display, which no doubt produces full HD effect for you to even play HD Blu-ray movies on iPad. Phil Schiller, the senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple Inc, explained the A5X processor and claimed it is four times to NVIDIA Tegra 3 in graphic processing ability. High screen resolution and better GPU processor bring users 3.1 megapixels display effect, which surpasses the effect of HD TV. The new iPad also made great improvement in camera, bringing 1080P HD movie recording. Though the hardware updated greatly, the endurance compatibility will stay the same as that of iPad 2. Check the new iPad specs for more detailed information about the new iPad.

With the release of the new iPad, the iPad 2 price is reduced by $100, starting $399. If you want to buy the new iPad (3rd generation), you can now pre-order your desired one on Apple Store. The shipment of the new iPad (3rd generation) will be available since March 16th.
